transmission identification

i searched and came up with only stuff for v8s. is there a way to tell by my VIN what transmission my car came with. i also have the factory invoice, but can't find any tranny info on it.

if there is no way to do it w/o getting under the car; how do i tell that way, i know there are markings, but i would have no clue what they mean.

thanks

Why does it matter? o.O;; I mean... if you've got an auto now, ok. If you've got a stick now... uh.... ok.

I guess RPO code?

it is a manual 5speed. was there only one type offered?

the main reason i want to know is so i can change my under avitar text from "stick" too "t-5" or whatever.

one day i may look at new gearing or somthing and will want to look into more transmission info, knowing what tranny i have will help out alot.

thanks alot guys

only 2 5speeds were offered

non world class t5
world class t5

IIRC, around 87-88 they switched from nwct5 to wct5.

oooohhhhh. i always thought when people said "world class" t-5 they were trying to be funny. like using wc to describe it's condition. so since mine is an 86 it is a non wc t5
