In a response to your comments I brought the car for the body really. It have no rust what so ever on it and ver few dents( small ones not even noticable unless you look closely). The plan was to put a 350 in there that my dad had laying around but I had a change of mind. Thats why I'm pulling the engine and tranny and rebuilding them. So if you have anymore inquirines feel free to ask.

Oh! Also I brought it from a neighbor which might I say has a substance abuse problem if you know what I mean. If you know like I know you can get anything from someone like that dirt cheap.

Memo to ya...
Go get a 3.4 & stick it in and go have mucho fun.
Used running 3.4 long blocks, fully dressed, go for $210 to $900 range and average is $500.
I've bought 40,000 mile & 50,000 mile used engines. $800 & $900 for mine.
Dirt cheap alternative to wasting time building a little 2.8.
Join the over 125 swappers. And only one not satisfied swapper of the bunch.
And ya scored a stick shift car, too.
Fun factor definetly increases with that added to mix.
You'll have car running in about 72 hours after 3.4 engine purchase.

I just might do that after checking my cam will fit in a 3.4 as well. I will be calling the guy that will be doing the machine work on my engine. He said he has plenty of blocks and parts around his shop he may have one just sitting around for my use.

Thanks for the input.

It's a very wise option.
Investigate before ya lift a single wrench!

Quick question- Does anyone know the bore size for a 3.4 engine? If I can't find a 3.4 block might be able to do some modifying.

There is NOT enough meat in a 2.8-3.1 block to create a 3.4
Which is why they use a new block specifically made for the 3.4 standard bore size.
That's why a used low milage 3.4 long block fully dressed is your best, cost effective option.
It's already built & seasoned & barely used.
In other words, not needing rebuilding.
Yes, only a 3.4 from F Body is the right choice for the 3rd Gen F Body.
The correction solution is out there, no true need to piece meal together a 3.4.

Yeah Really correct.
Serious the 3.4 block is a stand alone block
That's why ya score a complete used running long bock and have at it.
IF anything else done, once the block overheats, wasted effort on the build part follows.
Start & do the job right.
Many subjects out there for the pickings.
Kinda like the right woman in your life, many to choose from!
Of all the swap boogies done, NONE have ever "created a 3.4" from wrong parts.
All went the right route
All cause they found a complete used running long block 3.4 with low miles
