What Not To Do!!!!!!!!!!

Well everyone after 2 weeks of looking for a 3.4 that I couldn't find I finally broke down my 2.8 to get it ready for the shop. When I got down to the crank you won't believe the way the bearings looked. The idot that I brought the car from put in a new crank but didn't change the bearings. What an idiot.

So that was the excessive knocking noise I was hearing. The bearings were over lapping on each other on the #4 piston. I was surprised the engine even ran at all. I will be taking everything to the shop tomorrow so I should be up and running by next week I hope.

Who said 3.4s are to fall from heaven into your machinist hands?
KEEP LOOKING FOR THAT 3.4!
WHY WASTE HARD EARNED MONEY!?
JUST KEEP PHONING WRECKING YARDS & LOOK IN PAPERS FOR 93-95 WRECKS!
Think of it this way?
Ya wanna spend money on a date with a dog or a Babe?
There's a place out west here that'll sell ya a remachined 3.4 for $2,000!
I am so sure there are some by you, too.

Its not about getting more power to me. If I wanted more power I would put in the 350 that my dad gave me for the car. Just want the car running like new and keep it as original as possible. I am on a budget anyway.

I did look but its not that important to me. So I will just go with what I have. Thanks anyway.

3.4 have been scored for as little as $210
High is $900
Average is $500 range.
To bring back to great condition costs about $100-$150 (chain/pump, gasket kit, other things).
Same effort as installing any "same" engine.

hmmmm....I think I'll go for that date with a babe! lol

Seeing that the 3.4 is a direct swap more less....might as well go with a 3.4?

Well I have given in to all the mounds of advice and did make an upgrade. Even though I didn't find a 3.4 I did score a 3.1 crank and pistons. Just so happened that the guy doing the machine work had a 3.1 block that someone left at his house so he will be hooking me up. So I'm happy about that and can't wait to get my baby back on the road.

Will keep you posted!
