overheating :(

was driving home from work last night and my car was all the way hot and smoking from underneath by the time i parked it in front of my house. i had school this morning and im on a free period so i came and started it. it warmed up to all the way hot in about 5 mins. i looked underneath and theres coolant driping from the oil pan didnt have time to check where the leak was. cheked the oil and its all of a sudden really low, about half wy to the line. any ideas? headgasket maybe? its cold so i couldnt tell if it was white smoke or just hot air hitting cold air out of the tail pipe. i appreciate teh help guys. oh yeah and wen giving it a little gas it stutters. thank you...

The stuttering sounds like the head gasket went. Be carefull though the head gasket may not have been the original problems.

If a car over heats enough it can blow the head gasket.

Check your water pump and the rest of the cooling system just to make sure a different failur caused the head gastket to end it's life.

well its been stuttering for a while, and at night i look and theres a spark arcing from the spark plugs. i think the wires are bad cuz i had to ply with the boot to get it to stop. ive never had overheating problems before last night, and ve had the stuttering for a while. but what else would cause the headgasket to go?

Yeah you have spark leak. Time to replace the wires.
