new tires for 88 sc, need your opinion

hello, just a quick question, it sounds like a myth, but i was sold if i go from my stock 215's to 235's that ill slow down my car off the line because of the bigger tires and added weight or whatever, it was a while ago but im lookin to get some raisied whites on it, is this true? should i just stick with the 215's? i plan on workin the v-6 in the near future so im not totally sure as to which direction to go? this may seem like a stupid question but ive heard it from a couple of people and i suppose it makes sense...thanks....any hints for a good raised white tire? i was thinkin firestone indy 500's, or radial ta's but every1 has got those....

well it isnt from the wieght it is from the reduction of gear, the taller tire takes away from the final drive gear ratio. so if you are worried about that ck this sight out, i went from 235/65/16 to 255/50/16 same hight but wider. ck it out. i would try the komho's they are a very good tire for the price.
here is the siteTire size calculator

well according to tire rack the 215/65/15 that i have now is the same height as the 235/60/15 im looking at, so it wouldnt slow this car down any more off the line right? the cars slow enough at the moment haha, i cant afford to lose any more, i must admit though, i was out saturday night at "the lot" where we gather, and my 2.8 does 2 wheel brakestands, they spin slow, but nevertheless after about 45 seconds, a huge smokeshow haha, hence why i need new tires. if i get the 235's i dont think my 6 will have the low end to spin the tires anymore either...my 85 ta with the lg4 doesnt even do 2 wheels....
