simple, yet unknown to me question.

Can you re-connect the EST wire while the car is running? Or do you have to turn car off, connect, start car again?

Cam install is off to a good start.... but.

SEALED POWER LIFTERS SUCK!!! 3rd one is damaged.

New tip, when installing lifters, install them so that the little hole in them is facing that outside of the block. Oil pressure thru the lifters like a *****!!!

PS, anyone know if the 3.4 power steering pump bracket sets it higher then the 2.8/3.1?

I always take alittle oil squirter can adn manually pump up lifters before install. Kepps from having air bubbles, and is less ahrsh on break in
I use Sealed Power lifters on all mild builds, they work ok once you learn their quirks

In order for the ECM to control the timing, need to key off for 5 seconds then re-start.

When the EST connector is opened the ECM sees this and locks out ECM control of the timing. Until the ECM is powered down for a reset it won't control the timing.

Otherwise no issue re-connecting the EST wire while the engine is running. It won't damage anything.

To set the timing the timing light can also be connected to the #4 plug. Center driver side. Easier to get to then #1, and no difference in how/where the timing is set.

RBob.

Thanks r-bob, thats the answer I was looking for.

I installed the lifters and spun the oil shaft to prime the lifters.

However, it still doesnt explain why a sealed power lifter wasnt pumped up after it had been in my car for 5 weeks of driving.
