I decided to relocate it on the firewall. With it there, I can keep the coil wire going to the distributor the same length. Would it hurt to cut the wires going to the 2 connectors that lead to the coil and splice in longer leads to accomodate the relocation? These are 12 volt leads, are they not?

If it's a 4 wire coil, I think the mounting bracket grounds to the block. Make sure you have a good ground.
