Is there any difference?

Is the 700R4 in a 91 3.1lt different that any other 700R4. Maybe sensor plug different? Anything like that. I maybe getting a 91 w/ a blown tranny. And I was just going to go to the j/y where my old Camaro is and yank the tranny from that.

86-93 700R4 should interchange fine. The newer the model year, the more factory updates are inside. I believe 700R4s before 1985 use mechanical speedo drive and 86 and later use electric. You should pull it out and make sure that the parts are the same as the one you are taking out. There are different gears used to match different rear end ratios.

Good luck!

I used to have an 87 and it had a mechanical speedo (changed that tranny too many times). I know I have to change the gear for the speedo because of the different rears. The 91 has a 3.23 because it is an auto and the older ones had 3.42's.
