hey everyone lately i've been having a problem and i think it is due to the egr leaking or getting stuck or something...

my car at part throttle(sometimes) will have what it seem to be a (lean/rich/misfire? no sure which one) when the egr is opened but once i get above 3k rpm it doesnt really have a problem at all.

i replaced the egr with 2 different units from a junkyard but they were not exactly the same as my OEM one. I installed them and both made a chattering noise and made the low rpm driveabililty really suck.

I put the oem unit back on and replaced my egr tube(had 4 holes in it) and it worked alright then started doing it again. I plugged the vaccum to the EGR and it still has a slight pop like the exhaust is rich but runs soo much better.

WHAT could this be? EGR VAVLE, SOLINOID? something else?



any info will be greatly appeciated

 

86 2.8 has a vacuum booster motor thingy near the coil on that side of the engine for the EGR. Not really sure how it work, I just know its there.
