Fuel Pump HELP...

OK guys well the other day i was running my car hile i was filling it up and i turned it off and went inside to get my change i came back out my car wounldnt start. seems like fuel pump BUT i want to know is there ANYTHING i can be other then that? i didnt see anything in the fuse box inside blown i swaped realys nothing i toojk off the fuel filter no gas comes just drips but i want to know if when i turn my key to the on my oil presure gauge read 80 is that normal i heard if the oil presure sending unit is bad then it wont prime the pump but i dont know all i dont want to do is drop that darn tank with it full of gas ;(. i have a 91 Firebird 3.1v6.

My oil pressure sensor is bad and the only problem is the gauge bounces around.

well mine never reads right i mean sometime when im stopped it ssys 0psi then sometines it reads 60 and going down the interstae it reads sometimes normal 42 or then it will read 80 i know its bad.

The oil pressure switch for the fuel pump is just to get the car running once there is oil pressure IF the relay goes bad. There is no provision to shut off the pump if there is no pressure.

Sounds to me like you just have a bad pump. Time for the rear of the car to come apart...have fun.
