MPFI

Is there any diff. in the 2.8-3.1 mpfi manifolds, one flow more than the other? Also, are the bolts metric or std. and what tools should I take to the yard ? Don't want to take them all. Thanks!

Nearly everything on all thirdgens (2.8/3.1/3.4/5.0/5.7, etc) is metric.

Always have 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16mm sockets with you. box end wrenches the same sizes too. Big stinking screwdrivers for prying, extensions and ujoints. Torx set is important.

Thanks guys, thought they were metric like the s10 but one never knows. Guess I will have to do some work on the manifold for more flow.

Don't waste your money on buying another stock manifold. Since you would have to take yours off to do the swap, just gasket match the one that's on your car now. Just need some decent files and a Sharpie. Trace the inside of the gasket on both parts and file until the gasket is a perfect fit. This is a "free" mod as you'll only have to buy some gaskets (get Fel-Pro).

Well, let me explain my situation. I'm installing this 3.4 into an S10 blazer,I sneak on here [don't tell anybody]because 3rdgen is has a wealth of info on the 660. I'm kinda of doing a 3.4 ah la daves12secv6,but all I have are s10 tbi intakes.BTW,how's your project comimg along? I'm curious to see how your turbo works out.Mine is kinda of a long range project, lots of research going on here. I've got a V8 sitting in my s-blazer that hasn't been fired, still needs an exhaust system. Haven't been able to work on it because I'm renov. the house to sale.

The project is going slow, I have four kids and a construction company so it's hard to find time. Not to mention all the rain we've been having and I don't have room in the garage for the Firebird with all my tools in there, 2car garage, LOL. Just need to purchase the tubing as far as the turbo goes. After the 1.7RR install, I broke an exhaust spring so the car has been sitting for over a week with nothing done to it (the water pump went also at the same time so a cam is going in). Mine has been kinda long range too (decided to turbo in Nov.), and had a lot of research to do since I only knew how a turbo worked and not much about installing one in a non-turbo vehicle.
