Faild Smog
Well I faild smog today and I thought I would pass. Anyways I applied for 500 dollar assistance from CA since they forced me AGAIN to go to TEST ONLY. Anyways here are my readings.
- -------CO2 O2 HC CO% NO
15 MPH 13.8 0.8 87 .96 1262
25MPH 13.8 0.8 81 .93 1172
I faild CO and NO and my HC was a little high on the 25MPH but 5 points away from failing.
Plus wires cap rotor oil pcv are all new. Cat has about 25,000 Miles on it. Any pointers?

Re: Faild Smog
im not too familiar with what theyre looking for, and the only emissions test results i have seen is in class, and its OBD II. so what are the cut points that they require. as far as i know, it seems that NOx is high. but i dont know what the cut points in CA are for each emission. if you know those, post em and maybe i can help ya out.

Re: Faild Smog
Sorry it took so long to get back. Well the state granted me the 500 bucks to get the car fixed so I took it in last week the state worked on it and got it to pass smog. They replaced some parts not sure yet but hell all it cost me was 100 bucks for the deductible. Finally our tax dollars at work for US!!!

Re: Faild Smog
Good to hear it passed. Did you replace any of your mods back to stock to help it pass? HC count could be high due to the "performance" chip.

Re: Faild Smog
My money is on a replaced O2 sensor and cat conv.
The CAP program is a great state program that not enough people know about and/or take advantage of.

Re: Faild Smog
They replaced the O2 wire since it was melted but did not do the cat even though it needs to be replaced. They also disconnected my MSD box. Weird thing is the 02 only had 5k miles on it.
I like the CAP never knew about it until my friend who smoged my car this time told me about it. And since I am test only I qualified.
