Aluminum Heads...What about these?
I saw this in another post, but no one had anything to say about them other than they're expensive.

Does anyone know anything about these heads? Are they made for RWD? I sent them an email asking if they'd fit, but more importantly are they worth the upgrade?

$595ea + $350 to port just the exhaust? Seems a little steep to me... go look at the heads they have at www.60degreev6.com/store.

Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
No, they will not directly bolt onto a RWD application.
And holy dog $hit, that's expensive for some stock heads. $25 to $50 each at a wreckers, sure they won't be clean, but a much cheaper start.
If I were to do this again, on a RWD block I wouldn't even consider the genII heads, I'd go straight to the genIII 3400/large port 3100 heads and top end.

You can find full 3500's now for as little as $500!

Not trying to hijack this thread but I was looking at the link from above and saw another link somewhere on the board to a site that was offering 2.8 stroker kits to convert them to 3.1 or something. I've done stroker olds blocks but never a V6 and was wondering if those were even worth the effort vs finding a bigger V6 engine assembly. The prices werent to bad for the stroker kit but being unfamiliar with the 2.8's limits I was just curious if anyone had tried it and if it was as good as going with a bigger engine.

Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
Ah thats what I was wondering. I may have to check the yards around here to see if they have any of those still laying around. Unfortunately all the good stuff has been crushed into cubes to make room for the new plastic cars lol. Darn *****'s are taking over in there. Is 3.4 the largest V6 that will work in there without major mods like bellhousing changes etc ?

Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
I don't want to get into FWD aluminum heads, I just want an upgrade from the stock iron heads if there is one out there. Or should I just send my heads to the shop?

Then you're stuck with what you've got. Unless you're lucky enough to score a pair of alum fiero heads (very unlikely) then you should just send 'em to a shop.

Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
Fieros never came with aluminium heads either.
There was a very limited production run of some aluminium heads that were replacements for genI heads, I beleive they were going to be used for midget racing, until aluminium heads were outloawed for that class, as the story went. I believe it was Ryan Falconer that produced them back in the '80s.

Your stuck with the iron heads. Unless you can get a set of ported ones like I did which are hard to find unless you get someone to do it.

Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
I know a good shop in town. That's cool then I have no problem going that route. Maybe someday someone will come up with aluminum heads for our engines. Thanks for the info.
Re: Aluminum Heads...What about these?
There are aluminum heads for our engines, they just take a little extra work to put them on. I'm using 3500 heads/intake and a 3.4 short block, with tunign from Megasquirt.
