i feel like a retard

so i went and replaced my ignition coil today. no big deal. had the same problem as before with the no start after i drive it and let it sit. so i said screw it called a friend got a ride to the autozone and bought a whole new distributor , cap and rotor. put that in and figured mine as well look at my spark plugs to see what they look like. well my friend had spark plugs for his 79 camaro with a 350 and said "lets just change them." i know i dont need to tell you guys that those arent the plugs that go in my bird. they were ac delco plugs. and i took out bosch platinums. well after i get everything said and done. i go to start it up. it made a loud bang like a back fire and thats it. so i went and got the right spark plugs and a gap tool. the gap is .045 if i remember isnt it. all in all i feel like a retard

Re: i feel like a retard

I'm pretty sure the gap is .045". The AC Delco plugs I bought, for the 89 2.8 V6 were already gapped to that, and the car runs fine. Oh, and BTW, did you have trouble installing your coil? I just mounted mine straight to that bracket, and didn't bother with those stupid saddle mounts. Thanks, KP.
