Mild Build 2.8
Mild Build 2.8
Hey, thinking about opening her up a bit.
This looks like a good combo for about 50 horse/tq to me
what do you guys think?
Already have a worked/corvette servod/transgo shift kit'd
700r4 with a 2200 rpm vette stall converter.
Ac Delete
ASP crank/alt underdrive pullies
Dynomax super turbo cat back (already on car)
High flow cat - or 'test pipe' LOL
Pacesetter headers
Fast Chip
Mallory proform or MSD blaster coil
Proform Ignition Module "Extreme output"
Bosch Wires
Acdelco Rapid Fires
Brass cap/rotor
K & N Air filters (have frams in there now)
How would all this do?
How would It do if i went a step further and thru an edlebrock or Crane Cam in, and some roller rockers?
And a port + polish on top of that?
Any other 200 or less bang for the buck suggestions?

hi, id sugest using the search to help, lots of builds will come up to give you some ideas,
your list seems more to get it running right rather than tuning- ignition system & filters.
underdrives and ac delete will find a little but not as much as people think or would like, the pacesetters are good and are on my list. but this is not guna get you 50 horses. port and polish is a must, with a good cam. the intakes on these suck. as do the heads.worked heads and intake might get you near 200hp with cam depending on the work. it is hard work to get these moving. youve been warned!

Re: Mild Build 2.8
so I've heard.
My car does run very well as is,
So are you saying throwing in a nice module and coil
isnt going to help me at all powerwise?
I was figuring the gains would be minimal, 1-2 horses at different spots along
the powerband, and better mileage/ smoother idle.
I have been comptenplating grabbing a Junked V6
and working on that out of the car.
If I was going to grab a V6, To use for Heads / intake,
which one and why?
I have a machinest friend who is ready to port / polish anything
I throw at him.
I was also thinking of grabbing a 3.4 from a 93-95 f body
and working on that...
How hard is it to get a 95 3.4 up to 250 horse?

hey check this out, this is a hybrid build 3.4 bottom end rwd and late fwd heads/intake - ally flow much beter than rwd irons. think he wants 250-300hp NA
3.4's a good start, there the same blocks so an easy swap. theres no easyer way to get power than cui's . nos maybe

200 hp is all that you can get out of the iron heads stock. My build is shooting for 200 hp. I am building a 3.4, 10:1 compession, cam, slightly ported heads and intake, LTs, 2.5" exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler.

Re: Mild Build 2.8
I would guess you would get 20-25 hp from all that. It all depends on what you are willing/can do to your engine. If you want to keep the iron heads...P&P, cam, roller rockers, up the compression, headers, etc. If you can do the FWD swap...check out the hybrid swap threads. Your probably looking at right around 200hp NA from the iron heads.
