B&M MegaShifter cable help

Posting in here since im not gettin ne response in the interior forum

I'm having problems with getting the cable that controls the gear marker (Park,R,N,D,3,2,1) to stay in the clip where it's suppose to go. I've tried numerous times crimping the clip down but the cable just somehow slips right out. I was thinking about trying to solder it into the clip but don't know if thats the best route to go.

Anyone have any suggestions?

just to get it to stay, try electrical tape or something like it. the heat will melt it so its really just a temporary fix though. pics?

Re: B&M MegaShifter cable help

If this is a new shifter with the install sheet make sure to focus on fig. 10. If it`s used or you don`t have the install sheet, go to B&M`s web site and click on the pdf instruction sheet and look for fig. 10. It may help. Some of these things are very specific about the way they work, do it wrong and it never works right. If you still can`t figure it out, reply about whether fig. 10 is what you are asking about.

Re: B&M MegaShifter cable help

I should have been a lil more specific, this is the Console Megashifter, oops. But I looked at Fig10 and read about Fig10 but what it talks about is different than what I have.

If the indicator needs adjustment, loosen the screws holding the indicator cable clamp to the cover plate and slide the cable bracket to adjust the indicator position. (Retighten these screws carefully since they are threaded into plastic).
Even the pdf about my shifter doesn't say anything about how to properly hook up the cable.

Place the top cover plate over the stick and onto the top of the console.Route the indicator cable around the front of the shifter so that it has a free radius and will not bind. Run the shifter through all of the gears to check the operation of the indicator. If the indicator needs adjustment, loosen the screws holding the indicator cable clamp to the cover plate and slide the cable bracket to adjust the indicator position. Attach the cover plateto the tower with the screws going through the top plate, through the supplied spacers and into the lower plate.

As you can see I'm not dealing with plastic and where I'm holding the cable (silver obviously hah) is where the cable needs to go.

Only other thing I can think of is loosening the screws, bend the cable to 90* L and putting it behind the plate in between the screws. Think that would definately hold in place?

Any suggestions is appreciated much.
