pulsating ses light

why is my ses light pulsating. strobing like a dance club.. I have had issues with my throtle body so I have been getting a lot of ses lights coming on and off but have ignored them.. Is the memory of these events filling up the memory in the computer. Is that what this means?

Re: pulsating ses light

A fast flashing SES is caused by the PROM checksum being incorrect. The ECM checksums the PROM and finds that it doens't match. Sets the SES and starts over again. Repeats which flashes the SES again and again.

Either the PROM is bad or the ECM itself is bad. One thing to try is to reseat the PROM. It is under the small cover (2 screws) and is the larger of the 2 chips. Carefully remove it and then push it back into the socket. Try a key-on, engine-off, and check for the flashing.

When everything is OK the SES will turn on, blink off, then turn on solid (this is with a key-on, engine-off).
