Re: need some help please

as far as cleaning the intake goes, wait for a better answer from someone else, because I'm just jumping in the 60 degree v6 myself...

Your idle drops when you turn the wheel the same as most cars... the strain on the pump increases when you turn the steering wheel because your at a dead stop and the power steering pump has to work harder to turn the wheels, so naturally the idle will dip slightly. try turning the steering wheel at a dead stop in a manual steering car and you'll figure out why the pump strains... A fresh tune-up could help this problem allot by making the engine run smoother so the power steering pump isn't so tasking on it...

Your power steering pump sounds like the idle problem alright. You may want to check your fluid level, if there isn't the proper amount of fluid in the pump it could put undo stress on the pump. Another and far more frightening problem if the idle drops to the point of the engine killing could be a bad pump or bad steering unit. As for your carbon problem that would have me worried. If your getting a lot of carbon into your intake to the point of clogging your vacuum lines your having a problem in the EGR system itself. I have never seen that happen without the EGR being bad all together. However if your just looking at cleaning the line out you have to be careful being that most things that will clean carbon will eat your rubber racuum lines. If it was me I would just get a replacement line but if you really want to clean it I would suggest talking to the guys at the local parts store, they may have an idea on a cleaner. Only other option is trying to CAREFULLY run a wire throught it and use it to scrape the carbon out, but you risk punching through the rubber line. I hope that helps.
