fuel pump relay

fuel pump relay

ok i got my haynes manual book for my 1991 3.1

it says the red wire coming off the relay is the "fuel pump prime connector"
and its not plugged in to anything.. does it go somewhere? or am i crazy?
its the 3 inch red wire with a clip on the end of it.. but thats all i got where does it go? why is it there?? help please..

Don't worry about the prime connector.
IF you have a working SES light, your inline fuse is good. When the fuse blows, the ECM loses its constant power source.
Connect fused 12V between the top right and lower left ALDL terminals to test the fuel pump circuit. Failing this, have someone hit the gas tank from underneath with a stick or bat or something to try to jar the pump into action. Either way, whether this works or not, you need to replace the pump. Not having my Haynes on me ATM, and not having 90-92 wiring diagrams, I can only suggest that you jump the 2 terminals on the oil pressure switch TOGETHER that aren't for the gauge. One has constant power, and the other runs to the pump. I hope this helps, because the LAST thing you want to do is replace the pump.
