Transmission: stock auto
Axle/Gears: 3.23
computer mods for the 3.1
Are there any computer mods you can do for the 3.1 or am I better off putting the 3.1 on the engine stand and building a 350?

Plenty. Go browse around the diy-prom section or do a search, the '730 ecm is very well hacked.
