Re: actual car weight

Tons of threads on this.

A stock no option auto v6 should be close to 3200. (I'm sure people will chime in saying anything from 2800 to 3600 now....)

hmm i searched and came up with nothing useful. i plan on getting this car down to 2800 +/- a few lbs. i've started an lsx swap using a th350 trans. just curious what i'm looking at. the car has no engine in it now or i'd simply go weigh it. i got my 2000 z28 camaro down to 3280 (from 3660) just removing simple stuff. surely i can get this car down to sub 3000lb without much fuss.

Re: actual car weight

I have an '85 Firebird with the 2.8 V6 & auto trans. I haven't weighed it, but the specs I found online say 2989. I've toyed with the idea of swapping the 2.8 with a stronger GM V6 like the new Cadillac 3.6 DI engine [304HP - 273 torque] but I'm told this would be a nightmare because of the computer system Cadillac is using. Then I got to thinking the supercharged 3.8 [260/280] might be the ticket [http://www.webdesignetc.net/Merchant...Store_Code=GC] ..... but for now, I'm just researching.

Re: actual car weight

^Yeah, earlier cars weigh less, and that is probably the shipping weight.

Sub 3000 is my goal too. Its not too hard. There are lots of lightweight factory pieces you can use to remove weight without inconveniencing yourself with the lack of a carpet/dash/etc.

I only have the first 3 of my plan:
fiberglass hood
aluminum drums
rear seats pulled
aluminum driveshaft
12 lb battery
a/c delete
airbag pulled
aluminum impact bars

Should get real close.....
