i was wondering will a chip from a 305 give the 2.8 more power or something?

because i was talking to a guy that i know that has tons of cars and work on alot of them and he said he had a 2.8l firebird couple years ago and he was gona put a 8 in it but decided to put a 305 cpu chip or performence chip in it and he said it made the 6 alot more powerful and he kept the 6 in it.

he pretty much knows about cars because he works on all his cars which is puting lift kits on them and modify them and put engine in them by his self.

my 2.8l got the power but you know i want to get little more out of it.

so i was thinking of trying it my self to and get him to install it.

every buddy that drives it when i get it inspected or it needs work thinking its a 8 because they always put it on the bill and they said it has alot of power for a 2.8l and sounds like one.

 

Wouldn't it dump to much fuel into the engine, flooding it?

all he said is it ran alot better and it had alot more power because he said it always liked to burn tire hehe.

and i remember back than when he had it i always thought it was a v8 because it really moved and burn tire till he told me today it was a v6 2.8l like mine just a 305 chip in it and i was stun..

 

Umm no. I don't see how an 8 cylinder chip can even come close to being used on a 6 cyl.

have to ask more about when i see him again because he said he even would install what ever hes gonna install lol

unless he ment a performance chip he use and just said cpu from a 305.

tho i don't really trust chips because i looked on eBay and stuff and saw performance chips that says 200horse power and 60mpg yea right!!! i know those are fake.. lol

cause he even said he paid 40$ for it and he did the same with couple of his s10s with the 2.8 in them.

i post back a update if i get a hold of him again.

Check this link out, it has everything you need to swap the ECM.

The V8 chip swap has been done, it's programmable, and has a quicker processor. You will have to spend money. I'm sure your friend could help you if he's done it before.
