stalling and now over heating

ok so i never really drive this car much at all it mostly siting and goes from side to side as needed to avoid street cleaning tickets

and the last few times i had her out she would stall out of the blue but would always start right up but no codes

then i got a lot of smoke coming out the drivers side rear well but could not find any break leaks at all

just let her sit some more LOL

last week i took her out for a 20 spin up and down the bronx river
it was a nice smooth ride with no real problems and still no codes

however i did notice my breaks with a lot sharper then normal but whatever

I got back home and just let her run a little and she started to over heat

I let her cool off and went back out yesterday in the daylight and just let her run and now tracked it back to the fan or rather lack there off but also noticed with i thought at first was oil in the coolant but thankfully i was wrong it turned out to be rust and lots of it

so what should i do now how do i prevent more rust and stop whatever is currently rusting away inside my engine / rad ................

I have to trouble shot and possibly replace the fan
flush the rad change the oil

Sorry for the long story / post but i'm actually trying to have the car road worthy for this Friday

Thats a good start. Have those things done. I am sure your brakes stick a little after sitting. And rust builds up on the rotors too. It will wear off after a few miles. You may not have a fan issue. Could be a relay.

I'm hoping it's only a relay......

How does one correctly flush the system out

I just paid to have this done at a shop last year
and now i have this rust issue

So i might just try and do it myself this time around

also my uncle said that there was back in the day
this liquid that i could mix with the coolant that would
act like a rust inhibitor and solve my rust problem

I am not sure about a rust inhibitor. But Prestone makes a good radiator flush that seems to work good. I used it a few years back and it was like 5 bucks a bottle. I would buy 2 bottles and do the process once. If it still looks rusty, I would do it again. You just have to run water through the system. I believe directions are on the bottle. Go through the heater core and everything.
