Carbed V-6
Ok guys got a few questions for the V-6 gurus. First I have a 1983 Firebird with a 2.8L V-6 Right now it has a broken water pump pulley and I am picking one up this friday. It has had all the A.I.R. system removed by the P.O. as well as the A/C, I also noticed while bypassing my climate controls to get a defroster/heater working that the pink and black wires go to my ECM. well they end in a connector and nothing else so I believe it is safe to say that my ECM has been removed. I have a 2bbl carb on it with the green connector on the top drivers side (I think it is a TPS switch but not for certain). First question, now Since I dont have an ECM does that need to be hooked up anymore? My car was running quite rich and I could smell it inside the car quite a bit when driving. I have no oil leaks and have all the vac ports capped with the exception of the main ones (egr, Trans, and intake ports) and all those are hooked up correctly. Second, If I don't need to have that TPS hooked up can I tune my carb with out it? Third anyone have any idea why it is so rich, changed plugs, wires, distro cap, coil, ecm, and rotor cap so far on that, as well as valve cover gaskets, and water pump.

Re: Carbed V-6
If the ECM is gone you need a non computer carb, no way to use the computer one without one, so its gonna work but like crap. Hence your awful rich.
Just get a non computer one.
You want a 2SE carb, not a E2SE which you have.
Find em on s10s/s15s up to 1985, 86 was the change over year.
Also rebuild n change the float.
They are famous for bad floats after many years.

Okay, thanks alot I will be looking for a good deal on that carb but at least I can run it till I get one. I found the pulley for it on evilbay for 13.95 so i think it is a good deal. Going with the 3 groove since mine broke in half and I only need two grooves for my belts lol
