2.8 Exhaust

Well here is my current exhasust.

It has some sort of glasspack on it, that i dont even know what it is, its rusted. But i'd like to know what yall's exhausts sound like on the 2.8 and is the deep rumble idle acheivable by the 2.8?

Re: 2.8 Exhaust

Check out this thread. Most people here have posted sound clips and what exhaust they have with their 2.8 or 3.1 over there. Personally I'd go with a flowmaster 80 series and gut the cat (If you don't have emissions testing and don't get pulled over often.) that'll give you a decent rumble, at least for our V6s.

it's a pretty long thread....so if you want the summary from what i've read...magnaflow if you want to spend money...dynomax is cheap and almost everybody said they liked the sound. personally with the 2.8...i'd go with a dynomax cat-back if it's rusted. i just ordered a dynomax muffler i'll tell you how it sounds.

I personally like my flowmaster 80 series, sounds nice unless your going past 4000 rpms or full woot.

Keep in mind i wasn't revving it crazy, its an 80 series with a high flow magnaflow cat, 3 1/2 stainles tips, don't know the pipes size though, bigger than stock but not sure how much...

today, the day after my last exhaust vid, i was driving it and the muffler came loose. .found out the previous owner put a coupling on it, and didnt clamp it, and had it hanging on wires.. well on a sharp curve today, it swang free, and came off. this is somewhat the deeper rumble i was looking for

Re: 2.8 Exhaust

My opinion is if you want to go for a deep sound get a flowmaster or a magnaflow. I think the dynomax kit sounds a little buzzy. Just my opinion I'm not hating on anyone that has it. I have dual outlet flowmaster I found at the junkyard for 15 bucks it's a rowdy exhaust and it will get raspy in the higher RPM's. A lot of people have told me they like it some say it's too loud. I'd rather have it loud and rowdy and obnoxious. I like it that way. On another note if you run some ultra 93 gas in your car it will sound slightly deeper or so I hear.

I think you can get a lot deeper than you are at now, I personally would go with the flowmaster, as I find magnaflow a bit more quiter and not as deep, then again I've only heard one on a newer challenger so I wouldn't know.
