is it possible???

hey guys, i've got a question. is it at all possible to get a 3.1 to make 300bhp N/A??? i'm building mine up for auto-x racing, and would like to get a little more umph out of it. i know i have to ditch the factory cast iron heads (asthmatic piles of crap), i was looking at 3400 heads.

anybody want to give me some advice??? (other than "buy a v8")

Re: is it possible???

3.4 RWD block(93-95 F-body) with 3500 heads and manifolds. Or 3400 hybrid off of your 3.1, the 3.4 is a better starting place, but your choice, do I think its possible, yes with other modifications such as cam, headers exhaust etc. And they're not asthmatic piles of crap, they're asthmatic boat anchors, get it right :P Seriously those things weigh twice as much as my aluminum 3400 heads...

And I'm sure Maverick will chime in soon enough to add his thoughts

Re: is it possible???

i had planned on keeping the 3.1 i have. the 3400 hybrid sounds like it might be the way to go. the cam is gonna be a custom grind for my car. i'd like to get to around 7k rpm, and still be making some power.

Re: is it possible???

Do you have dizzy or DIS ignition? If you have a dizzy the 3.4 will save you some headache as its has provisions for DIS...And Idk if you plan to have room to grow, but if you do, get the 3.4, unless you plan on using boost, I don't think the 3.1 hybrid will get much more than 300 hp, unless you do a plenumless intake or something insane like that.
