vacuum driven parts, and block weight
2 questions:
1. What all parts operate off of vacuum from the engine, I want to get a big cam but then heard about low vacuum at idle being an issue with the brakes/brake booster, which does make sense, however one thing I'm wondering about that matter is that if the engine is at higher RPM then wouldn't it still have good vacuum with a big cam, at least if its in its powerband which would be where I would need brakes the most anyways? I'm trying to decide whether drive-ability will be an issue like some said it would be, bear in mind this is not my only car and I want the thing quick as possible.
2. Anyone know how much the block with internals and oil pan would weigh? I'm guessing it would be something like 200-250? I realized I might be able to get away with pulling the block without an engine crane...but I want to know how much the thing weighs before attempting that..

1. EGR, charcoal canister, brake booster, FPR, cruise control, HVAC controls,
2. Block alone weighs 105... Crank probably 20-30, cam about 3-5 with lifters... Not sure on the rest... I know the spare block with crank, cam, and 2 con rod/piston assemblies is pretty dang heavy...
You could try swapping in a Hydro-Boost system if you're that worried about the brakes, or get a vacuum pump from an older Caddy or something.

Well do you think it would cause issues? The FPR and charcoal canister are both engine functions and shouldn't matter I would think, correct? HVAC I don't care because its going to be a summer car, and I'm most likely removing the HVAC, and EGR is also engine function, and one I plan to disable anyway. Also I've been thinking even if I can run on just premium that I might pass emissions with E85 easier, currently it has to pass tailpipe, two years from now it goes to visual.

You'll probably want higher fuel pressure at higher RPM's, for one. For 2, you'd probably want to run an electric vacuum pump is you need a way to pass visual inspection. I haven't noticed much of a difference in driveability since I basically chucked my charcoal can about six years ago (still have it but it's not hooked up... original was broke), and the EGR isn't something that would worry me, either, since you're going to disable it anyways. Just don't forget you need to grab a "dummy" 3.1 or whatever year EGR valve to pass visual and to plug the hole in the plenum.

Electric vacuum pump for? And the fuel pressure should be fine as it will just scale off of engine vacuum, which will in turn scale off of higher RPM correct? Also I believe the FPR I'll be using is 55 psi, compared to stock which is 43 I think?

The electric pump would be for the brakes... It's no fun going if you can't eventually stop.

brakes will probably be a pain when you're trying to get stopped. especially if you're in traffic.
