More HP

Is there anyway to get about 50hp more out of the 2.8V6 without nitrous? I need more power but I don't want to have to sell my car and buy a V8.

Any help is appreciated.

Well, here are my plans. I just got some K&N air filters this past week. That's a good start. There is this tech article on the site about a homemade Ram air. I'm gonna do that as soon as i find the time. Around Christmas i'm gonna shoot for a cat back w/ a high flow cat. I'm thinkin either dynomax or flowmaster. I heard that you can get 10-15 hp out of each so both of those i'd say is about 20-30hp gain. Eventually I'm gonna get a built 3.4 w/ a s/c. But that is a long way down the line.

Wins:

1994ish Olds Acheiva
1994ish Saturn SC1
Losses:
1999 Grand Am SE
1996ish Honda Accord (twice)
1990ish Vette (never should have been dumb enough to race a vette in the V6)

Hi!

I put on a Product for Power Cat and a dynomax Cat Back. Hypertech Power Chip and 160 deg. Thermostat and recognized a small power increase.
So I think you have to do the Cat and Cat back mod use K&N Filter, a Crane Compucam 2030 1,52 or 1.6 rockers and an MSD 6AL Ignition and you will increase your HP for 25-40 HP.
If you want more you need to build a supercharged or turbocharged engine.

check my sig........I;ve probably got around 170-175hp now, but it took quite a few mods to get it. IMHO the best bang for the buck mods are the cold air intake, and shift kit.
heres a run down of what each mod did for me...
catback with high flow cat 5hp
cold air 5-7hp
cam 7=10
pulleys 2-4hp
headers7-10 hp
chip 3-5 hp(I sold it)
160 degree thermostat 1-2hp(put 195 back on)
B&M shift kit, doesnt add power but firms up shifts.
GEars, expensive, bu the best mod I;ve done so far.

these mods PROBABLY add this much.
ignition 3-5hp
1.5rollerrockers 3-5hp
TB coolant by-pass 1hp(if your lucky)heads.....8-30?

I know pretty much what each mod did because I would mod my car and run it at the track as soon as possible. THe second set of mods I havent done yet, but I dont see much power out of them unless you talking about heads, which could add alot of power if you have the cash to do it an your car has already been modified.

Modified 3.4 Pacesetter headers,Crane 2020 cam,K&N cone, cat-back ,shift kit,pulleys,3.73's(openrear)

Dejan, they still make the Products for Power catalytic convertors? I have one of those; but nobody else mentions them! I thought the company stopped production. I bought it from Summit Racing for under $70.
