I found a disconnected wire! Hmmm, What/Where does it go?
OK! I bought the "Ultra copper" Permatex "Gasketmaker." So have that all ready to go. So i just pulled off ALL the tape (yes, melted duct tape) .. and i discovered a disconnected wire! In abswnce of an immediate photo (I can snap a photo,) the wire is as follows:
Passenger side of engne bay, looking towards drivers side. Right behind the alternator, the wire appears to be a singular wire, with a (partially melted?) two-prong connector. Looking further back on the wire, it appears to be "Green." It then joins the same wiring "tune of wires" that appears to go back to multiple sensors, all jammed in around an "Air check valve" - which is wherei lose track of it. Im not sure what this wire is, where it goes, or what it does.. but its moderately possible it as something to do with SUPER running rich, start/stall, fuelish use, etc (TPS wire? idk!)
I can maybe snap a pic, unless someone knows what this is. 84 Camaro, 2.8L V6 carb's, Auto.
Thanks! And im about to go back to the parts store too, with the "Check valve" so i can measure.. if i buy a fitting, maybe i dot need to "Block it off" with RTV, a penny,, BBS, a pipe cap.. maybe i can get it on as intended with a fitting. What would you do? Block the flow, making it only LOOK functional, but in fact blocked on both sides of "Air check valve"? Or reinstall for air flow, as intended?
Thank you!

Looks like that wire should go to the choke. Take a good picture of your carb from both sides.
Are you trying to get rid of the air pipes that run into the exhaust manifolds? I fould bolts that screw into those holes then cut off what was left of them.

OK ill take off the air cleaner, ill get one pic of each side, maybe a few other shots since i dont know what im looking at.. they will be up in a few!

When i looked at the "Front carb flap" (Closest front of car,) it appeared to be "Stuck open." I moved it with my thumb closed, and it just falls open again. Is this what it is supposed to do? And shall i douse my carb with a good soak of Carb and Choke cleaner again?
Re: I found a disconnected wire! Hmmm, What/Where does it go?
Hmmm... what should i know about "Choke movement." I cant get it to move with the one that seems connected to the gas pedal.. though i can use my fingers on the outside of it to move it.. with "no resistance?"
I also have a Carb and Choke cleaner at the ready in case i need to use it on anything. Seeming to put the pieces together.
My first carb, ever. And i "Smell gas" sometimes after it sits.

Choke plate is completely independent of the throttle plates, so no, the gas pedal won't even touch the linkage. What you can do is go to a junkyard and pull ANY lighter socket out of a GM vehicle (before 92 is the best I can say). That melted connector (with a different colored wire, though) will be on the shell. Snip off a couple extra inches of wire and pocket it, and tell the guy you didn't find what you're looking for, and be on your way. While you're there, maybe you can even find out where it goes on the carb. Unless someone here knows...
:edit: Oh, and it's a single wire connector... Just looks like a 2-wire because it's melted to crap, probably by the broken AIR stuff letting exhaust gas leak onto it.

Do you think maybe i solved the problem?
And i bought the Permatex Ultra Copper, now all i need is a fitting and a new air check valve since mine is all carboned up...

You're probably better off deleting the AIR system... I saw a couple of those check valves on eBay a little while ago and they're in excess of $250...
I'd figure out where that wire goes and take care of that before I said anything for certain about the choke on that carb.

And a check valve is only costing $12
imtempted to take the "ultra copper" and a fitting, to compensate for the umm . broken-off "air pipe end" that is off the pipe and wont be on the new valve.. and mate them. "Deleting" it is tempting, and i wonder hwo BOG a plug id have to make. unless i stopped up the fitting with soething, and the Ultra copper.Need to locate wire destination. Darn! I cant see where it wants to go!
hm.. im at a standstill until then. I will focus on the air pipe (maybe i dont have to block it up, i probably could though if i fail) and then choke wire.. then CHOKE lol if i didnt fix it already.. then lower hose, flushing agent, distilled wate.r.. vroom?
Loving the help here, thank you! Its helping me! My firstr carb!! My first "Carb issue!"

It looks like the choke on that carb is vacuum controlled, so that wire shouldn't go anywhere on it.
