i wanted to order the SLP posi for 100 bucks but dont recall what year 28 splines started? Im pretty sure i have 28 splines being its an 89 but im making sure before i go to a $100 dollar mistake

'89 was the year they changed over, so you could have either 26 or 28. Best bet is to remove the rear cover, pop out an axleshaft, and count. Worst comes to worst, you can scout out a 90-up f-body in a junkyard and score the axleshafts.

Ok, I have a 92 so that means that I can get posi for $100????? I'll take 2...LOL. Someone gimme some part numbers and where to order if this is true.

 

I think the website's slponline.com ? It's in their take-off section, meaning it came from brand new 93-up 4th gen f-bodies that SLP "did up" for people.

But all I have to do is change out the rear gears and I'll have posi? I'm not too bright when it comes to messing with anything behind the engine, and other than both tires spin, I know nothing about posi. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me to be wrong on that.

That's their $300 heavy-duty posi, not the cheaper one. Anyway, in your axle, you have something that looks like an "empty" version of that. You would (in theory, if your rear gears are the correct carrier size) remove the open diff from your axle and drop this new one in.
