selling 89 firebird and need help

ok, i have a v6 89 firebird. I like the 3rd generation firebirds alot and I'd like mine to be fast, but i realized I'd prolly be better off selling this one and getting a '91 350 manual trans am, but before I sell this one I was going to work on it a little to get more cash out of it. I was thinking putting tint on it, redoing the interior (seats, headpanel, dash). Repainting the outside. But I wanted to also rebuild the engine a little? I know a little about cars and I was wondering what would be my best bet to make the car be worth more and run better in the future without replacing too many parts?

Personally I wouldn't put tint on it. If you sell it in the future, the person who buys it will probably want to do it themselves. I didn't really like the tint on my bird, but I'm stuck with it now.

Just do a major tune-up, and you should be in good shape for selling.

With the amount of work you're talking, you might as well be planning to hang on to it for a while.. also, finding an fbod with a 350 and a 5 speed stock is .. erm.. .. dude, if you actually know where one is, grab it *now*.. they were NOT documented as production vehicles =P
I'd never pay more than 3 grand for a v6, and for that it would have to be in immaculate condition.. maybe 4 grand if it had a performance engine (15.75 sec quarter or better without juice, N/A, and able to withstand 10-12 psi boost)

[EDIT] I would point out though you could prolly get 5-6k from a moron for an immaculate condition car, but I wouldn't hold your breath on it.. and the reason I was going into what you can get for selling it is the plain fact you're prolly gonna dump at least a grand into it to fix her up from the sound of it

In search of new v8 engine & transmission, now contemplating t5 swap to get me out of this mess.
MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers, possible performance chip I don't know about.. gotta crack open the ecm sometime and check

Jason E, Nice ride, I like the color, Mine is the same...I think (GM grey).

Blkrian, if your going to sink that much into it, I think you're going to change your mind and keep it, think about it realistically, new paint, interior, and other things is probably a grand(if not more)...are you going to get more than that much extra for it than if you sell it right now?

my $.02
