Rust

Over the winter I slid down my friend's driveway and ended up against the wall of his driveway. It put a big dent in my car right above the back right wheel. Over the winter it rusted quite bad.

Now my question is: What would be the best sandpaper to get rid of this heavy-duty rust? I'm gonna do a ghetto paint job (rustoleum) on my car, 'till i can do it right, and there is a sh*t load of rust. I bought an assorted sandpaper pack from autozone and used all of it. It doesn't even look like I touched it. Any suggestions?

You may want to try one of those sanding discs you can put on an electric drill. That should help some.

You should have attacked it right away.
What you have happening is the rust has eaten into the surface.
All you can do it use the disc. 3M makes some good ones. NOT METAL, but, plastic, like scotchbrite on a wheel.
You need HIGH RPMS to do the work.
Don't waste the effort, go to a body shop, have them lay a prep & primer job on it.
IF you so not have the tools (or can borrow them), you're pissing against the wind.

I would have fixed this after it happened but it was too cold for the spraypaint to work. It bubbled and sh*t. So i had to wait until the weather got warmer. I will take it to get the whole thing re-painted when i buy a new hood, GFX, and rear spoiler. But that ain't for a while. I just don't want it to rust all the way through the metal.

You should definately check out http://www.por-15.com and get their Super Starter Kit. That will stop the rust permanently.
