You could have way more problems than that.
I replaced my ECM because my fan was constantly running.
The ECM had a burnt curcuit part on the board panel.
Replaced it and fan problem went away.
That was my cure, maybe yours is different.
Really need to get a HELMS (Pontiac) shop manual to figure out that problem. The diagnostic page is very detailed with all these steps to the final answer, to stop the fan from constantly running.

Youre gonna go through a LOT of gas. Besides that, it should be ok.

Wait... I thought the CTS and the fan weren't connected? I thought the fan was turned on by the fan switch at the back of the passenger side head?

It is Tom.When the temp reaches a certian degree it turns the fan on.When the comp didn't get any signal from the coolent sensor it turns the fan on also.I guess it's something like a fail safe.Just to keep it from over-heating.
I replaced it yesterday,in the rain, works fine now!But I broke another damn plastic vacumn line.I tried to fix it as best as I could but now I get a "no vacumn" light to the EGR set up The line broke less then a 1/4 inch from the block that is on the throttle body.I don't have the time to fix it today.I have a piece of paper taped over the SES light. That light is bright as hell in the dark
