getting more hp out of my v6

Hi so i recently have been trying to fix up my 1983 camaro 5 speed manual with a 2.8L V6 engine id like to try and avoid an engine swap so i was wondering how i could give it alot more hp without swaping in a different engine. Thanks.

turbo or hybrid, absorb as much information in the v6 section as possible everything you ever wanted to know is there.

Re: getting more hp out of my v6

its a waste of time u have a carbed engine, the bottom end is weak in the early carbed engines.

if u want a lil more power out of it do the basics

tune up
headers
cat back ex system

if u want to get slightly more involved get a cam and a set of heads off a fuel injected 2.8/3.1 or 3.4

aluminum heads will require a swap to fuel injection along with a piston swap and a ton of other things u need to do which would be a total waste on a carbed motor shortblock

If you wan to make over, lets say 160hp, you're gonna want to swap with a 3.1 or 3.4. Both of them are east swaps and will net you a decent increase in power. Not to mention a stronger and more modifiable engine.
