What Jennifer Looks Like & My Son's/Wife's Camaro

This is actually for Sgt.Panther.

I told him I would get him pics of my cars (2 of the 5). I sent them to him and he could not download them.

Tech part......
Tranny slips in 4th to 3rd on the freeway.
YET, if I put it into 3rd (by gear selection) it goes in real smooth & solid.
I do have to change the fluid.
And probably recalibrate it.
It never did this before.

This 1968 Camaro is the reason why I met my Wife. It goes to our Son (No, Dear, you are NOT selling this car for a minivan!!)! The wire wheels up front belong on my 1967 Camaro & are from our Families old 1978 Caddy Seville

This is Jennifer. I named my car after the girl I bought it from. This is from the past Weds June 5th. at Santa Monica Bay, looking south, towards Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach. Malibu is north by about 5 + miles. Not shown is the pic of the front nose piece, different color, but, it cost me $20 at Pick Your Part!

Dan, That's next to Gladstones, heading south. Sunset Blvd. ends/exits up the street.

California is nice. I can't wait to go elsewhere, tho. Been here. 20+ years, now. I miss the 80's in LA, what a scene!

I must admit, I did love it, when I literally lived at the the beach. 1982-85. On the Marina Peninsula at Venice Pier. Just visited last week, Tues. Man, how it has changed. Jim Morrison & the Doors, played at the bar across the street from me. AND when the FIRST El Nino hit, back then, every day was a new adventure (Wonder what's floating outside the window, this morning?). The opening for 80's TV show "Simon & Simon" was filmed across from me, also.
Where I lived (in Venice/Marina Del Rey), is now owned by Johnny Rotten (actually Johnny Loudon) of the Sex Pistols (actually his girlfriend, Nora).
All true.

I also bought Jennifer for $300. Wish she included the receipt for the tranny shop job. I have to do some tranny work, now.

Ked, that Camaro is beautiful. My grandfather was giving me a '67 Firebird with a 326 in it, but we (well, me and my dad) rationally thought about it, and I don't have the money to do it, and the car's almost beyond repair. The floorpan is rusted out, the trunk's gone... it basically needs to be totally redone, and at this point in my life, I don't have the time, place, or funds to do it. So, we (me and my grandfather) sold it to someone who'll take care of her... I had plans for that car too.... mainly involving a 400 smallblock and a turbo 400 tranny, and a set of mini-tubs. But, that's the way it happens sometimes.

Both cars look great! I'd love to own that classic... but I'd drive it every day, and it's value would drop ASAP....

Sorry to inform you, that the real Jennifer was a BABE from USC, that recently got married (LUCKY GUY!). Well, that Jennifer is taken! So I named the Firebird in her honor. Ever notice how big these cars hoods are?
So was she!
Tom, this Camaro is a daily driver. I take care of it, so it doesn't looked aged. My Wife drives my Son around in it.
And it almost is maintenance free, now. Engine super solid (I keep trying to kill it, damn 6 cylinders!), suspension getting the once over (all the brake parts that were to go on my 1967 RS/SS Convertible 4-speed Camaro, I'm now giving myself Corvette brakes, all around, like the old Trans Am race cars).
The Camaro has a 250 6 cylinder. The thing scoots! Peels out, too! I installed a new 1-bbl & new distributor, ram air K & N Air Filter set up & IT FLIES OVER THE SEPULVEDA PASS. Actually accelerates uphill! Recently media blasted the plugs. Was hoping I need not change points, yet. And that trick worked!
I can tell the ram air works. I move the air filter every week, to keep it clean. I have a MSD coil on it, new plug wires.
All the same tricks, work on every car.
It will be getting a power disc brake swap, real soon. Just picked up the disc brakes, all cleaned, fresh bearings & grease, turned rotors, new calipers, hoses & old pads (hardly any wear, I have a new set, for later anyway), new master cylinder, wrecking yard proportioning valve (& a couple new fittings for "customizing" this swap job). I'm rebuilding the power booster (all it is, is just a couple of rubber pieces). I also have a 12 bolt wating for it. Gonna put it in, even while it has the 6 cylinder. One less thing I get to do later. Yep, it gets a V-8 one day. I hope for a 327 & 4 speed automatic!
My Wife will appreciate it.
So will my Son!
Really fighting to keep the 1968 instead of a minivan... .eek.

Oh, Say GOODBYE to CAMARO FIREBIRD on the 2002 model.
They are "unofficially" going away.
So told to Matt King, the Editor of Car Craft Magazine by GM, about two weeks ago, in Phoenix.
They MAY come back.
BUT the market has to do it, for the WOMEN BUYERS, more than us.
So start writing or buying a modern classic.

But, it is going goodbye, for real.

I still get stunned when ever I sit in a 2001 F Body.

I remember that. I grew up up the coast from you, in Santa Maria. 20 miles from Pismo beach. That's the only thing I miss, The bikini's.

Graeme,
I do so agree with that statement.
BUT
My hatch doesn't sometimes stay up. I need new rear struts. Anything heavier would make me have to buy the struts sooner!
For my hood, I have my Home Depot hood struts (a piece of metal).
My tailights...
I keep thinking of the other option, but, I very rarely see my style, at all, any more, so that one detail (lack of taillights like it) makes me keep it, just for the difference.

Bikinis?

You mean they do not know what a bikini is in Oregon?
Pismo Beach, I drove my S-10 Blazer on that beach. Almost got stuck, but, since I knew how to drive in the snow, I made it out. I had a crowd watching and I only have 2 wheel drive! One of my favorite pics is my Blazer on that beach, in the Pacific Ocean.

Very cool! I've got so many dings & dents & scratches in my car's body from parking lots that I've "given up" getting pissed off about it. There's one spot I damaged, on the right corner of the front bumper- the rest is from all the inconsiderate SOB's in parking lots. (sigh) So a classic owned by me would probably fall prey to the same doom...

Are the rear brakes from a 'Vette? Or are you getting them from a junked car that used the same rear brakes? Didn't Caddy's have rear discs?

The simple details are that I can use a Caddy Seville (up to 1981) or a late 70's Trans Am for the bracketry (and at one time, I FOUND, YES FOUND a Trans Am 4 wheel disc axle. Sold it for $250, tho)
Use Corvette Rotors, my 1974 Shark style so 15" wheels fit.
Or
Use single piston calipers (from the Caddy's or Nova/Camaros, etc)
OR I can also use Corvette calipers, modified.
Basically, what it comes down to, is that I am duplicating GM design used on the 4 wheel disc brakes of the 1969 Camaro.
Many of those 4 wheels disc brake parts used DRUM BRAKES as foundations! So, already I have half the stuff!

Luckily I have a 12 bolt off the car, to experiement with, then, transfer it over to the car, after I'm done.
I can send ya about a dozen threads about the disc brake dances, if ya like.
Turns out it is very easy!
Just let me know!
The same theory works on our cars, too!! But, different parts, that's all.
