got to race a 305TBI

the results are a tie, that's all. Nothing more, and nothing less. I was really hoping to beat the guy. Actually, what happened is this. One of my friends (owns a 79 lincoln Mark V "400ci" ) was helping some of his friends, one owns a 80' camaro (had a v6, swapped for 350 by previous owner, but it can't burnout) and the other has a 90' camaro with a 305 (the motor was rebuilt and has 40k on it now) both of these guys don't know a thing about cars, so we're going to help them out. My friend does all the mechanical work, i mostly advise because of my extenseive knowledge of F-bodies (LOL) while my other friend (who drives a 68 charger "383 ci" ) also sits around and says, "hey... don't do that" but that's besides the point. after changing the dudes factory air cleaner on his 305 he was about to go home, and i'd said my little 2.8L should give you a run for your money, he aggreed to go, and we did. Went out to the backroads, avoided a bunch of cops (there were parties earlier in the day) and then went for it. I let him get the gas first to see what he had, his car pulled off, and I stomped the gas next. i never moved from the intial gain i gave him (about a fender) so from 0-70 we were at the exact same location then he shut down. (next time we'll go in the daytime so we can see for cops (and i'll have the aerodynamic advantaged "headlights down" ) but that's all.

Now, what were 305 TBI's running in the 1/4 stock, and given that his car most likely got a .30 over bore on the rebuild, and has 40k it should be running pretty nice still. Now, i've got the new block bored .40 over, the vette servo, shift kit, and high press. tranny lines. What would you think we're both running. I'm jsut curious. not looking so much for hp, but just times. thanks. next time i'm gonna take him out.

i have a new 2.8L bored .040 over, with the heads slightly milled, it's got an accel cap, rotor, super coil, and wires. The tranny has a fresh rebuild, with roughly 1000 miles on it now, it's got a vette servo, a shift kit (not sure which one...the guys put it in for free), and the boosted the pressure in the tranny lines (so the tranny shifts really, really, firm.) and that's about all.
