Re: Parking the bird for a year

probably want to drain any fuel out of it, disconnect the battery and put a maintainer on it, if draining the fuel isn't an option put some sort of a fuel stabilizer in the tank. Is it staying inside a garage or out in the weather? changing the oil wouldn't be a bad idea. but be ready to change it when you get back due to condensation building up. Might want to jack the car up off the tires and let the suspension support it because the tires can square up over time, if possible remove the wheels and stack them on their sides. I think you will have more to do to bring it out of "storage" than putting it in. I cant really think of anything else. Maybe someone else will chime in with comments or criticisms. Oh and hope they don't sell it to get it out of their sight! LOL J/K

Re: Parking the bird for a year

i was talking to my old man a while ago, and he told that he can start the car every once in a while and take out for a drive, so probably the car will be in storage for a month be used for a couple of miles and the go back to storage for another month.

So i guess only the fuel stabilizer will be needed and probably disconnecting the battery.

while stored do not let him just start the car and let it warm up then shut it off right away.

that is bad for the motor

let the motor run for atleast 30-45 mins once warmed up if he cant take the car out for a drive

The car really should be driven, to get the rear end lube circulated and heated. You get condensation back there too.

right so he could secure it on jack stands and then all his dad would need to do is put it in gear and let it idle for a little while, unless he doesn't mind driving it
