02 Sensor

I bought an oxy sensor today to replace my old one because the wire is about to breakoff. First question, Do I nee to use teflon tape on the treads of the Oxy sensor?
Second, would it be wise to spray WD40 on the old one to get it out easier?
Three, What does the oxy senor do exactly?

Use anti seize compound on the threads.

Basically the sensor tells the computer if the engine is running rich or lean so the computer can compensate. All you need is a big wrench and i guess some wd-40 wouldn't hurt.

I replaced it and put antiseize on the threads, it seem to give me alittle more pick up off the line, but my idle is still alittle eratic.
