I gotta say, even with a 1/4 tank of straight 87 in it, there was more pull past 3000 RPM. It actually felt decent for the first time in awhile!! Of course, this was coming out of the Z for the first time in 2 weeks

I really still wanna do an Accel 300+ box at some point...are these things hard for a novice mechanic to put in?? My buddy who has always helped me mod and work on the RS is moving to Florida, so I'm on my own now for working on the car...scary thing!!

If it feels this good with 87, I'm looking forward to filling up with 89 or 93 in another couple days and making a few rips around town!!

Easy to do if ya order the adapter to plug in so you do not have to splice..

I know of the advantages of a hopped up ignition.
Very Well!
What's the advantage of the Accel 300+ box set-up for our application?
Besides spending more money?
I am using the Accel 140011 coil & Accel wires & a rebuilt distributor, with new electronic internals.

Welcome back to the chip/coil crowd, J! The hardest part of an ignition box is deciding where to put the frickin' thing... when I did my 6AL, it took me a few weeks to figure out where to put it, and then 15 minutes to hook it up. I used the plug-in harness... this way, if my car ever dies on the road, and I "guess" that the ignition box is bad, I can plug my old stock coil back in. I noticed a bit of a power increase thru the whole RPM range, but sadly, it seems like my car takes longer to start now. It used to start with a 1/2 second spin of the key, now it seems to take closer to a second to start. Oh well!

Plus, the rev-limiter's a cool bonus; when I get around (in 10 years or so!) to putting nitrous on, I'll never have to worry about blowing my motor. Plus, with the box, I can add timing boxes and multi-stage rev limiters and ... but I think the Accel 300+ box comes with stuff like that, right?

I've been on vaca, so it has taken me forever to get back to this post!!!

Yes, I believe the 300+ includes a rev-limiter. With an auto, I don't really need that, but just in case the 700R decides to slack off one of these shifts, its nice to know I can be safe

I figure 200 for a box and 150 or so for a Dynomax, and I may have a fairly quick little 6. Like I said, this thing is more fun to mod than the Z!!! That thing already flies...the challenge is making this one too.

I just took a 500 mile road trip with the RS last week, and its up for a 1500 mile trip to Maine and back in a few weeks. She runs so good, sometimes I don't miss driving the Z

I like how an aftermakret ignition seems to make the car rev so smooth and fast.

Ah, vacation; I love it.. I was in Ocean City, MD a few weeks ago for a 4-day-weekend; it was great to get away and not worry about anything!

If you're on I-95 (NJ Turnpike) on your trip to Maine, let me know; we should grab lunch or something! There's some restaurants & diners on Route 1; which is pretty much a stone's throw away from Turnpike exit #11..
