V6 help Asap!
I just got done installing a new transmission in my camaro. Everything is all hooked up.But it will not start. It will crank and crank but it wont start. We replaced the fuel injectors and we think that had something to do with it.Was there something I missed? We think that there maybe air in the lines, if so would that stop it from starting? If so how would we go about getting that out?I checked all the dumb*** things like empty tanl, dead battery or wire hookup. Ther was also something else that interested me when we tried to start it, the ground wire began to smoke as if it was burning.Help me out plzzz
Umm .. air in line can cause it yes. The best thing to do is turn the key to on position and let the pump build pressure before starting. So it does crank so that takes care a few things... Have you tried reading any codes?. there are a number of them that will pop but will not turn on the light. Have you checked the fuel pressure? I know when I pulled my injector rail off I had a small leak from the return line. And are you POSITIVE that you have the injector sequence right? Mine did not want to strat because 1 of them was incorrectly placed.
What do you mean about the injector sequence? All we did was replace three bad ones(which is ok Because we asked the GM dealer).Could you explain it a little deeper?Oh and the pressure is ok and all ignition components are ok.
the injector sequence is controlled by the ECM. Now the ECM sends a pulse to a certain wire that activates the injector. Injector opens car runs. The computer cannot differenciate when the plugs are mixed up between the injectors. Meaning if you got 2 plugs mixed up the engine no run. Think of it as the same as mixing up 2 spark plug wires. If I were you I'd check them again and you may find 2 of them mixed up.
especially if you took off three of the plugs. I was lucky enough to only mix 2 of them up and I knew exactly what 2 they were because there was only 2 I was iffy on.

I posted the color sequence for the injector banks a while ago, the message is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000971.html
But, since our V6 board's archives don't go too far back, I'll repost the information for "future" searches:

The injector wire colors are:
Passenger-side bank (1,3,5) = black/purple & black
Drivers-side bank (2,4,6) = black/green & black/white
[..snip..] Also, after pulling & reinstalling injectors, the fuel rail has to bleed out air. This usually takes a couple pump-primes (key off, key on, wait 3 seconds, key off, wait 30 seconds, key on, ...)- but it sounds like you've run the motor enough to take care of that. Also did you maybe miss an o-ring on a hard fuel line, and fuel's dripping out somewhere un-noticable?</font>
