EGR

Well at lest my RS learned the appropriate place to die... In the drive way.

The last couple of weeks my car would give an error 32. Somtimes the car would die at a stop light and not start again. I would turn and nothing would happen, no clicking no nothing. So I figured The EGR was going and ECM went a long for the ride. So last week end I replaced the ECM and that resolved the problem of the car not starting. Well this morning the engine would crank but would not start. I gave it a little gas and bingo we have fire!!. I left off the gas and the engine dies. I go through this ca couplke of times and finaly the engine stays running. I go to back out of the drive way and when I left off the gas the car dies followed by a small clunk noise. I decieded to push back into the drive and bower the Cadilac for the day.

Now I know the EGR is bad and can cause this problem to happen, but after pushing the car into the drive way I noticed some fluid on the sidewalk. I got my trusty flash light and wipe some up with my finger. On the ground it appears to be a brownish collor, but once I have it on my finger it is a dark redish brown. a good amount came out. Does anyone know what it could be???

I just resolved my Code 32. It cost me...................FREEEEEE!
Two one inch sections of 5/16" windshield wiper hose.
That's all it took to restore instant working operations.
AND your distributor gasket is leaking. I say fix it with a small block chevy distributor gasket. Pull out distb, CLEAN ALL DOWN THERE, slap on some black RTV stuff & slip back in the distb. That sould do ya fine.
Really, I fixed my EGR with two one inch sections of hose! Clear computer (after the fix), then check again!

Well I have been blessed (read cursed) with a Digital EGR valve. I couldn't find any vacum hoses going to it at all just wire. I found a good salvage yard that had a decent EGR. A new one will cost $200 - $250. I picked mine up from GM sports salvage http://www.gmsportssalvage.com

It only cost $100. After fighting like hell to bolt on the dam flexable metal hose to the intake it fired right up no probs. Idle speed seemed fine so off on a road test I went. Not a prob. After examing the old EGR I'm glad I replaced it. The inside was so caked with carbon deposits that the opening was restricted. Also found that the electrical conection had some exposed wires. So I used electrical tape to patch it up.

The engine still runs a little rough not as much as before so it has gotten better. I'll try the distributor gasket deal and see if that helps.

Also now that there is day light I was able to find out what the fluid was. It was my own stupid fault too. Brake fluid spilling out every time I hit an incline. I checked the brake fluid sunday afternoon and apprently didn't seat the cover back on all the way. one coner was up and was dump fluid out. OOPPPSS!
