How do I get more torque out of my 2.8?
Right now I'm thinking to boost up the FP, and a new cam...
rebuild the trans with a shift kit and servo to feel the torque...
But what else can I do? I'm a fan of tire shredding, neck snapping, stomach jolting torque! (face mask and goggles not included for smoke protection)

Engine: 5.7 / 7.4
Transmission: 6sp / TH350
Axle/Gears: 3.55 posi / 3.23
put in some gears, maybe a posi unless you dig the 1 tire burnout (see jegs for a posi unit tthat jst replaces the spyders gears, you dont mess with the ring & pinion). Put smaller sidewall tires on, and the engine will wind up faster.
or...
Slap a super or turbo charger on it.
or...
Juice the sucka

I didn't wanna go as huge as a super or turbo charger... This car needs to be street legal, and no, New Jersey SIS's aren't known for taking bribes..
I didn't wanna go nitrous either, for fear of shortening the life even more of this already tired engine (no money to build a new one).
I wanna be able to spin the tire(s) on command, which is why I want the torque... I want to have to learn how to control the car... I know this is asking alot for a 2.8... but I figure people say they can chirp third, and spin 1st and and easy, and I can't, I feel left out...
Would running a heat range colder plug, along with 89 or 93 octane gas with more advance help? Or is there a limit to how much advance can help you?

There will be a limit. I do not beleive the 85 has a knock sensor, could be rong. Detonatoin is VERY bad. If you want to be quick around town, go with the tires with small sidewall profiles, and not too tall.
Shift kit should work, research which style a kit you want.

1985 is a one year vacuum hose design.
Fix EVERY hose break you find. SEARCH FOR EVERY HOSE BREAK YOU CAN. You'll be using 5/16" windshiled wiper hose for the patch jobs. Just slip it over the broken pieces.
IF in doubt, go to a GM dealer and get a vacuum hose print out. BUT, it's easy. Just follow the lines. Spend a sunny day, COOL engine.
NEXT check your ignition. REPLACE IT ALL.
OR plan on it. PLAN ON A DISTRIBUTOR REBUILD.
IF a tune up, plugs, plug wires don't get ya started, you need to go deeper.
LIKE A TIMING CHAIN!
NEXT, plan on figuring out a way to get more air into the air intake system.
BUT FIGURE OUT THE AIR INLET SET UP, after ya do spark strength.
DON'T WASTE A PENNY ON ANYTHING ELSE (performnance wise) until you get a strong foundation. You'll understand what will happen, when you start getting a smoother running engine. Get to that point, then plan for the fun! IT'll happen!! Promise!
PS, these 60* V-6 arre storng torque engines. They can spin tires, when the engine is running efficent. FOR EVERY PENNY ya spend, your gas milage will increase!

Karl, my hoses are completely dry rotted, I know my canister isn't working anymore because of this... I can smell the gas and I don't see the valve opening at WOT anymore...
So anyway my hoses are completely dry rotted, so I need to replace them all, there is no 'one place' that is bad, it's the whole thing... so do you have any suggestions on size? Will I pick up power by replacing them?
Also, I have alotta advance built into my initial timing to compensate for a stretched timing chain, (not enough to cause audible knock at WOT)
Yeah, ignition components... they need to be replaced, I know that... just no money for it right now...
I've already got cut boxes, now I just need KNN's...
Thanks for your help Karl.
