Since your restoring, get a lifetime garantee starter. If from advanced, keep reciept, they can be pr icks about that. Thermostat, use 180*, best for all year round. Go ahead and get all new vaccum lines. tere preety cheap. In fact do the "complete tuneup", change all fluids, & inspect all bushings & suspension/steering.

And good luck with a car 3 yrs younger

who would make the starter with a huge guarentee and how much am i looking at you think. I'm going to replace the whole damn egr, vacuum lines, o2 sensor...with those and the starter and t-stat that would be the most of my problems...

Autozone:
Starter- $43.99, $25 core lifetime warrenty p/n DLG6313MS

Thermostat- $3.99 180* p/n 434-180
gasket $0.89 p/n 35258

as for changing the thermostat, my upper manifold is off already so it is easy, use the search to find topic on this.

I'm kinda partial to AZ since they give 20% discount for employees

I restored mine a few years ago; came out nice... most of my time was spent doing bodywork; the engine was strong back then. (Still is, I guess.) One thing you might want to consider that some people told me: They said I should've done the interior work and engine work first, then had it painted. Their reasoning was that I would ruin my new paint job by working on the car.

However; I didn't ruin anything. I had the car painted first so any overspray wouldn't ruin my new stuff.

It took me almost a month straight doing bodywork. That translates to working every single day; from when I got out of my job to until it was dark outside. The paint job took a week to get finished. When I got the car back, I took a week off of work- and put everything on. That was working almost every hour of every day; I was sleeping in my car. (The carpeted floorpan is very comfortable when all the seats are out! Lie with your head by the pedals, your back where the driver's seat goes, and your feet up where the rear seatback should be.)

If you've got mostly engine work to do, that's great... bodywork sucks.
