Finished my intake Port + Polish!

Woah! Dude! Sweet! As of 11:00 tonight, my intake is ported and polished to perfection. Took about 15 hours from start to finish, ran into some minor problems, but now car is reassembled, running well, and performing better than ever. From a dead stop, the car launches just like normal, but now, instead of slowly spooling up the RPM's, There is a sharp increase in acceleration over 2500 RPM. You can easily hear the engine suddenly pick up speed once it crosses that 2500 RPM mark. I expect performance to increase even more once the PCM becomes re-adjusted to the car's specifics in the next day or so.

I have to reset my TV cable yet, but when I slightly rev the engine at 60 MPH, the car picks up speed very nicely without downshifting the transmission. Upper RPM pull is more positive and much more linear. Instead of completely losing all power around 5000 RPM, the motor now smoothly reaches 6000.

I did some minor brake launches tonight, and for the first time in memory, the car spins the tires after the brakes are released. And not just a little brake loose spin, some actual squeal is now present! Tonight was very poor for performance testing (under 15* celcius and fairly humid) so I didn't even bother with 0-60 times. Tomorrow, though...

Also, before reassembly, I painted the upper and middle plenums with some high-heat paint and baked it up on the barbeque for awhile. Then, I used emery cloth on the ridges atop the upper plenum, so now the whole thing is black, except for the 2.8 medallion and all the top ridges, which are a nice shiny silver color.

I'm putting a tech article with pictures and whatnot together right now, so depending on when it gets put up, you're all gonna have a nice easy guide to follow if you try it.

If you have the tools already, and can get the gaskets cheap, this'll be a fairly cheap mod. If not, then be prepared to spend around $30 for a die grinder, about 15 for stones, emery cloth, etc. And about $40 for gaskets. And many, many hours. Still working on my article, gonna be a coupla days, and then it's up to Dirk as to when he posts it up. I have another that I sent to him about a week ago and hasn't gone up yet.
