Please Help!!!!

My door latch broke on my 86 Camaro. I took the door panel off and checked it out. It looks like it would be easy 2 take off. But it's putting it back on that i'm worried about. You have 2 reach your hand up through the panel and set the latch while you hook up the rods, and fasten it down. I'm just curious if anybody has replaced a latch before, and hard it was? The only reason I ask is because I don't want 2 take it out and not be able 2 get the new one in. Please help, I have t-tops and I had 2 take them off so I could just jump over my door 2 get into my car. I'de appreciate some help.....thanks,

There might be some diagrams out there that could help you. Do you have a Haynes/Chilton manual? That might have it. Also, there is the GM parts catalog that someone put on the net that might have the diagrams... I can't remember the url, but I think it's in the Tech Articles section.

You seem to be having alot of problems lately. Maybe you should just sell me the car, I can be there in 3 hours....

I haven't done one on the Camaro yet but if my 92 blazer is the same (and it looks to be) it's not that hard. Since you already have the panel off it shouldn't tkae more than 45 min or so.

LOL......HELL NO, I love my car. It's the chick magnet.

Anyways I've noticed that alot of camaros have the same problem as mine. What happens is that rod in the door hinge goes bad and the latch starts 2 rub on the pin.

I'm gonna try and put a new one in tomorrow....but they look like a pain in the A$$ to put back in, because door is so narrow that I can barely fit my hands up there, especially not enough room 2 connect the rods.

I've done the driver side door latch. Piece of cake. Study the way the clip goes on first before you take it out. Its all in the physics when you install it. Good luck!
