are *clunks* good??
are *clunks* good??
i think i'm having another problem with my tranny again, i dont know for sure so maybe yall can help me, i know it cant be going out cause i just had it rebuilt like 4-5 months ago, but anyways to the point, everytime i brake and i'm almost to a stop a loud *clunk* sounds like it comes from the tranny, if i'm coming to a stop and i happen to hit a few bumps in the process there are quit a few *clunks* that i hear, it only happens when i'm coming to a stop, has anybody else had this problem, i was wondering if it was something i could fix myself before taking it back to the shop(still under warranty). TIA

my tranny makes the clunk noise when I hit a bump at slow speeds and you can even feel it move around.
is it auto or stick just to make sure. but you might just be better taking it to the shop since it is under warrenty. less for you to worry about.

I would check the tranny mount first. The stock rubber mounts are prone to failure and it may explain the noise.
To check:
1) Safely raise car.
2) Inspect mount ar rear of tranny for stress cracks. If present, replace w/ Poly mount (see Summit)
3) Push up on tranny. If it moves more than a little bit, replace w/ Poly mount (see Summit)
Even if it is not broken, you should replace it with a poly mount while you are under there anyway. It's cheap insurance.
