Transmission update...the car has never run better!!
Well, I got the car back today...
First, I am rather pissed at the dealer I work for. They replaced the thermostat 2 years ago...before I brought it in, it would get up to 220 or so before you could see the thermo opening on the gague. Did the same thing after the change, so obviosuly I felt stupid. Lately, it was getting up to 230. My uncle changes it, and now the damn thing doesn't go past 180-190 before it opens. It runs sooo much cooler now...granted it was a 55 degree night tonight driving around.
Second, the idler arm was replaced, and man, the steering is soooo much more direct...feels like a new car!
Finally, the transmission...he changed the fluid, and saw no signs of any damage or metal particles on the magnet in the bottom of the pan. I drove it about 50 miles tonight, it shifts fine, and racing an Escort ZX2 it made a full throttle 5000RPM 2-3 shift perfect. Seems fine to me!
So I guess all is well...read my other post though and see what I have in store for the car
