my new 86 sport coupe...
my new 86 sport coupe...
hey...i just bought a 1985 v6 (LB8) sport coupe, MFI...and i kinda need some help with where to start on it...its got dual exhaust, A4 tranny...i'll put some pics up as soon as i get them up on my site...thanks for the help...
Wait wait... is it 85 or 86? If you arn't sure (VIN decoder giving you fits) I can help you out there, I have the same thing...
As to where to start, I assume you mean mods... the best place to start is a good quality, rock solid, full and detailed tune-up... Make sure the drivetrain is running smooth and good before you start modding... After that you can do intake and do a full exhaust to make driving at least sound good... after that... SFC's, STB's, shocks springs struts bushings, new idler arm, conical KNN, cleaned and balanced injectors by Rich at CrusinPerformance, cam, nos, blower, tranny rebuild (w/ TransGo shiftkit, corvette servo, .500 line pressure, hi perf clutches and bands, trans fluid cooler)...ect...
There are hundreds of things you can do... basically, money = HP. In stock trim and a great running drivetrain you can expect to run 17.5's@78... there are guys running 14.9 and 15.2 on engine, 13's on NOS...
And if you rice it out, we'll all drive to your house and beat you.... :P j/k
Welcome aboard...

hey dude, welcoem to the forums, i got a 87 Camaro SC not to long ago, the guys here on the forums will be a major help to you
and i'll try my best to help, one thign you can do to start off is a full tuen up,t hats the best, new spark plugs, wires, etc., then once you got that taken care of if you already have a decent exaust just work ont he intake, a mod that will cost you nothing would be hackign off the bottom of the dual snorkle intake boxes and thorw some K&N's in, this will dramatically increase the air you get into the engine, or you can go with what dragon said and just go with the cold air intake. well hope you have good tiems wiht your car, check out my sig.

Well welcome to the boards. I am currently working on many a HP builder. I am going to be working on a MINI ram intake, redesigned intake runners and injector placement for about 20-30 HP. Headers, we all want badly!, the Infamous TURBO set up, with and with out intercooler!, Gen 3 head set ups that flow massive amounts over stock heads. And if you guys want a one off part that I can do it'll get done.
Camarohunter... there are already aftermarket heads available for us by GM parts... just to let you know... I'm really antsy to know when and is going to be ready for us
