4th Gen V6 Tranny

Will a 4th gen V6 5-speed easily fit in a 3rd Gen Bird?

My tranny bit the big one and I might be able to get my hands on one from a 3.4L 4th gen and I was wondering if this would be a direct swap.

Thanks
Dale

Maybe the transmission and drivetrain board might know more about this, it seems no one here has done it. I would think it would bolt up, but isn't there a servo in the 3.4 transmission, that could cause some problems.....

the case pattern where it meets the bell is supposed to be FORD! unlike the 3rd gens where it used a canted standard gm you will need the bellhousing as well but the clocking of the hydralics may not be similar

If its a manual swap on both. meaning 5 out for another 5, it will go. the bellhousing is the same. Its still a 60* motor housing. Auto may be trickier. Talk about servos and what not. If its just the converter lock up that is the problem easily over come by making a manual lock up switch.

This will be a 5 to 5 swap. Actually I was going to swap in a low mile 3.4 at the same time to eliminate a bad engine vibration I have.

I forgot about the hydraulics. Does anyone know if they are the same?

So far this is starting to sound like it might not be a very good idea. Oh well

Thanks so far

Dale
