I broke a pushrod today...
Ok, here's the story:
I have a 3.1 MPFI, and I finally had it running nice and smooth, but then it developed this loud metallic knocking noise, and I narrowed it down to under my driver's side valve cover. I peel it back everything necessary to get the valve cover off, and once I removed the VC, I started to check to see if any of the pushrods were loose. one of them did, and I removed the rocker to find that the ball tip separated from the pushrod. (I will post a pic as soon as I get to a camera)
How did this happen, and would this be the cause of my knocking noise? What else should I look for?

It was running right, and then it developed this noise that progressively got worse.
Here is the picture of the pushrod. Sorry about the quality.
